Is That So?

The point is to create a mantra in your life.
WHAT IS MY NEXT ACTION. WHAT IS MY NEXT ACTION.
And focus on this and only this and nothing else other than this.

——————————————————
Here is the “official” version of the story told in the video

The Zen master Hakuin was praised by his neighbors as one living a pure life.

A beautiful Japanese girl whose parents owned a food store lived near him. Suddenly, without any warning, her parents discovered she was with child.

This made her parents very angry. She would not confess who the man was, but after much harassment at last named Hakuin.

In great anger the parents went to the master. “Is that so?” was all he would say.

After the child was born it was brought to Hakuin. By this time he had lost his reputation, which did not trouble him, but he took very good care of the child. He obtained milk from his neighbors and everything else the little one needed.

A year later the girl-mother could stand it no longer. She told her parents the truth – that the real father of the child was a young man who worked in the fishmarket.

The mother and father of the girl at once went to Hakuin to ask his forgiveness, to apologize at length, and to get the child back again.

Hakuin was willing. In yielding the child, all he said was: “Is that so?”

LOL why is the video so blurry?

I think you forgot to turn off “macro”?

Anyway good lesson to learn here. If something bad happened, MOVE ON. :)

    • Greg Jacobs says:

Des, dont you know, “bad” video converts better.
lol. but really it was the iphone4 point and shoot
      and zoomed with camtasia.

I think it lost me on the autofocus.

  3. JoelinPDX says:

    Your server crashed…Is that so?

Your hosting company is blasé…I would want to kill.

Recognizing the server crash as an “is that so” moment is one thing. Letting the hosting company off the hook for a grievous error is something else entirely.

    EXCELLENT advice! Thank you much!

    Hi Greg
you are right its what you do next that counts, you’ve done it once you can do it again. Its easy to point the finger and blaim other people but that will get you nowere. So you will have to start again but this time it will be easier.

  7. robert says:

this is kinda different.the story about the baby the reasonings behind server crash etccc.. I myself have gotten burnt about lifes little turns and mishaps..Its doesnt really matter if you get peeved or not… it happened so deal with it and move on.very hard to do sometimes.theres a lot of things beyond your control and just have to move on and learn from it!

  8. Victor THeriault says:

Something similar happened to me last month…

I have 22 mage sites. These creatures draw a LOT of traffic…Well…that traffic caused my dedicated server to “crash” and become inoperative for 2 weeks. After “repair” my sites are back online, but the databases don’t work well: I can’t upload any plugins or set up any categories…but the links are OK…

Beware large traffic loads with your mage sites!

  9. Mel Gaffney says:

    Wise words indeed Mr Jacobs.

  10. Greg, you remind me of the book I am currently reading, called “The Power Of now,” with what you are talking about here. I strongly recommend you read a copy, as it is all about living in the “now” and not letting our emotions and egoic minds take control of our lives. The author is Eckhart Stolle. Thanks Greg for the thoughtful messages.

  11. Rose says:

    Hi Greg,

What you have just said is true, living in the past will only drag your life, its kinda like people who never forgive, they carry anger to their graves and they are never happy. To be happy in life one has to be free of revenge, unforgiveness etc. While we are on this, when are you going to have WP Mage operational again. I have a friend who is interested in purchasing it. Having explained to him how awesome it is, he was completely sold out.

Greg, when the house is complete, you can invite us all for house warming party ha!ha!ha!

Thank you Greg for the great words of wisdom, proud to know you, kama and thai-ness are strong forces!

  13. Axel says:

The ISP couldn’t care less? Oh, this just HAVE TO BE Server4You.com / Server4You.de . I guess you have a backup, right!? :)
    Need some help?

  14. Rf says:

Greg you are so right, legal stuff would only take your (time) away from making more money online. would you rather be at home making more money on your site, or in some court room. Your time at home working your biz is more improtant, and time is short people so get to it to make some money while you can because Lieberman and Husien Obama are secretly trying to gain full control of the internet because they don’t want us to have POWER in wealth!

  15. Rf says:

Greg, this shows us how you top producers continue to use “FOCUS” as a huge tool that produces continued success,,, where as many others just see it as a word, and skip right by it, instead of really manifesting the true meaning of the word and operating in it.

Keep your eye on the ball folks,( your biz) and don’t get bogged down with negitive things that slow you down or even make you go backward that takes you away from time spent at home making more money online which eventually will give you more time away from your computer and more freedom time with your family doing other things that are your dreams.

  16. Roger Due says:

    Greg,
Great words of wisdom! Having been in the software development business for decades, I have a few questions:
    (1) What backup strategy did you have in place?
    (2) Were you able to recover from a backup?
    (3) What strategies have you now come up with to better help you quickly recover from a disaster like this?

One of our servers started giving us trouble in the office recently. Fortunately I haven’t lost any useful data because of the backup strategies in place, but it has also alerted me to things we can do better.
    – All the best, Roger

  17. Robert says:

Nice one Greg a very creative discourse, well done.

  18. Lance says:

The story is about compassion forgiveness and non attachment not focus

  19. Marcus says:

It’s not what happens that determines the major part of your future.
The key is what you do about it that counts
    -Jim Rohn

Good to see you so excited Greg!!
    Love your philosophy too.
Here’s another Jim Rohn Quote that might suit.

Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better.
Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills
Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom
    cheers!

Thanks Greg. I have been telling myself the same thing for years. My mantra is “Always Forward”.

  21. bardiya says:

    Hi Greg

Ive seen your very first video when you put it up right before, and right now it looks different; so congrats on your progress.

I am however sorry for you to loosing your daily income and the work that you had put it place; and i am most grateful for you sharing your positive point of view of not letting the results determine your progress rather progressing based on the dream set at the beginning of my journey.

So with this new teaching of your, i shall continue marching on and continually asking myself what is my next step.

Also i learned that if you have built something special you must take the precautionary work to protect it.

looking forward to more of your teachings
so what is your next step?
Since you are starting from almost allover and trying to

  22. Hi Greg,

    “Is that so”

    That is a nice story.

    Greetings,

    Nico Moorrees

  23. Great Point! Didn’t really know where you were going with this at first, but was actually a very good video on taking action regardless of the outcome. I Loved IT!

  24. Lea Sedan says:

    Hey Greg,

Blurry video, with a great message”WHAT IS MY NEXT ACTION
“The main barrier to success is lack of action”

  25. cbhooch says:

Coolness Greg !Sharing the in and out of focus of life.

Keep with the enlightening good vibes we all need them we all want them !

Do I hear those cows mooing along !!Moving reality with thought. Chewing Cudd Making A nother way Happen !

As Pangloss would say . Alls for the best too !

  26. Eddie Milosevic says:

    Dear Greg,

This was a great video. You are really cute when you’re relaxed and goofy :) Congrats on such a healthy attitude, and I love the fact that your sense of humour is still intact. Also a valuable lesson in here. A well thought action is always better than blind, impulsive reaction. Yours is the right mindset – the kind that makes the basis of success in business and life in general. Just like Donald Trump. After he had lost his whole fortune, it took him only a couple of years to not only win it back, but double it. Which I wholeheartedly wish to you :)

And if my intuition (which is on steroids these days, LOL) is correct, your making of this video in order to share this experience with us is the perfect action from the perspective of the Universe. Most of us here deeply respect your work and wish you all the best. And it can only add up exponentially to your energy and momentum in your financial recovery.

To be more specific, I also want to ask you when will you again open the doors on WP Mage? I’ve been yearning to purchase it for months, and I am sure that I am not the only one. The concept is brilliant. In fact, when I roughly explained it to some members of my family (who do not have a clue what IM is) their jaws dropped in amazement and awe :) Seriously.

I’m very grateful to you for creating it and I cannot wait for it to arrive.

How’s that for a feedback from the Universe, heh :) ?

    Hi Greg
Thank you . Just what I needed

On 10/12/2010, My six months old laptop computer crashed. No Backups available. I took the laptop back to bestbuy. When I got home, I walked into my office, and my first thought was “How could anyone work in such cluttered, messy environment”. I saw the incident as an opportunity to unclutter and create space for a clean, fresh, new start.

    Thanks

  28. Lucy says:

That is indeed so. by the way that author mentioned before is Eckhart Tolle. great thinking !! Whatever has been done is over – now what ???? that is the real question.
You cannot panic and think at the same time …..

  29. Juliette says:

Yea, i can slo say that it’s a dramatic, encouraging, beautiful, and an honest story. Thank you so much for in my wall you wrote to me.
I still need more such similar stories. Sorry..
    I love you guys.
    Take care.
God be with us and bless us!

  30. Thanks so much Greg for bringing me back to center. I have so many things right now trying to distract me emotionally.

My Mom’s in the hospital dealing with kidney failure. (I’m her caregiver) My cat (and buddy) went missing. My friend is trying to distract me with opportunity that is not financially sufficient for me. I have to find a new place to move and take care of my Mom. Extra bills to pay, insurance forms to deal with, etc., etc.

The world is throwing a lot of stimuli at me trying to elicit all kinds of emotions and I was getting a little down, and having feelings of despair. This lesson you’ve given couldn’t come at a better time.

I actually have been focusing on the next action because it makes all the other stuff go away when I’m doing it. And that’s a good thing.

I will take this mantra and go forth. Have a blessed day!

    Mike

  31. Janet Caen says:

    Thanks, Greg, I NEEDED THAT!

    You are Joy!
    Joyfully,
    Janet

  32. haha greg you are a crackup on video. That was a great video. I learnt about 6 months ago about chargeless creation and it makes so many different things in life so much easier, funner and more vibrant. Cheers for the insight and the story.

  33. Allan says:

Greg you’re so funny on camera :D
